Upgrading Your Plan

Upgrading your Arconomy plan unlocks additional features such as unlimited backtesting, real tick data, paper trading, and live broker connections. This guide walks you through the upgrade process, explains how billing works when you switch plans mid-cycle, and describes what happens to your existing strategies and data.

How to Upgrade

You can upgrade your plan at any time from within your Arconomy account. The process takes less than a minute and your new features are available immediately.

  1. Log in to your Arconomy account at trade.arconomy.app.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Account Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Subscription tab.
  4. You will see your current plan highlighted. Click the Upgrade button on the plan you want to switch to.
  5. Enter or confirm your payment details. If you already have a card on file, it will be pre-selected.
  6. Review the summary -- including the pro-rated amount due today -- and click Confirm Upgrade.

Your upgrade takes effect immediately. As soon as you confirm, all features of your new plan are available -- there is no waiting period or manual activation required.

Available Upgrade Paths

Arconomy supports the following upgrade paths:

Free to Paper Trading

This is the most common upgrade path. Moving from Free to Paper Trading unlocks:

  • Unlimited strategies (up from 3)
  • Unlimited backtests with real tick-level data (up from 5 per month with end-of-day data)
  • Full Trade Analysis suite including event replay and rule state visualisation
  • Demo broker connections for paper trading
  • Up to 3 simultaneous strategy deployments on demo accounts
  • Multi-symbol strategy support

Free to Live Trading

If you are ready to skip paper trading and go straight to live execution, you can upgrade directly from Free to Live Trading. This gives you everything in the Paper Trading plan plus live broker connections, up to 10 simultaneous deployments, multiple broker accounts, and priority support.

Paper Trading to Live Trading

Once you have validated your strategies through paper trading, upgrading to Live Trading adds:

  • Live broker account connections for real-money execution
  • Up to 10 simultaneous deployments across demo and live accounts (up from 3 demo-only)
  • Support for multiple broker accounts from different brokers
  • Access to alternative data rules (sentiment, economic calendar, and more)
  • Priority backtesting queue
  • Priority email support

What Happens to Your Strategies

When you upgrade, all of your existing strategies, backtest results, and account data are preserved. Nothing is lost or reset during an upgrade.

Strategies Are Preserved

Every strategy you have created on the Free plan carries over to your new plan. Your canvas layouts, rule configurations, and saved parameters remain exactly as they were. If you had 3 strategies on the Free plan, all 3 will be available on your new plan -- and you will be able to create additional strategies immediately.

Backtest History

All of your previous backtest results are retained when you upgrade. However, backtests that were run on end-of-day data (Free plan) will not be automatically re-run with tick data. You can re-run any backtest after upgrading to take advantage of the higher-fidelity tick-level data available on paid plans.

We recommend re-running your most important backtests after upgrading to Paper Trading or Live Trading. Real tick data produces more accurate results than end-of-day data, especially for strategies that depend on intraday price movements or tight stop losses.

Deployed Strategies

If you are upgrading from Paper Trading to Live Trading, any strategies currently deployed on demo accounts will continue running without interruption. You do not need to stop and redeploy them. Your new deployment slots will be available immediately for additional strategies.

Pro-Rated Billing

When you upgrade mid-billing-cycle, Arconomy calculates a pro-rated charge so you only pay for the remaining days in your current billing period at the new plan's rate. Here is how it works:

  1. Credit for unused time -- Arconomy calculates the value of the remaining days on your current plan and applies it as a credit.
  2. Charge for remaining time on new plan -- The cost of the new plan is calculated for the remaining days in your billing cycle.
  3. Net charge -- The difference between the new plan's cost and the credit from your old plan is charged to your payment method immediately.
  4. Next billing cycle -- From your next billing date onward, you will be charged the full monthly rate for your new plan.

For example, if you are 15 days into a 30-day billing cycle and upgrade from Paper Trading to Live Trading, you will receive a credit for the 15 unused days on Paper Trading and be charged for 15 days on Live Trading. The net amount is charged immediately, and your next full monthly charge will occur on your regular billing date.

The pro-rated amount is shown on the confirmation screen before you complete the upgrade, so there are no surprises. You can review the exact charge before committing.

Downgrading Your Plan

While this page focuses on upgrades, it is worth noting that you can also downgrade your plan. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle -- you will continue to have access to your current plan's features until the cycle ends, at which point your account will switch to the lower plan.

When downgrading, keep the following in mind:

  • Strategy limits -- If you have more strategies than the lower plan allows (for example, downgrading from Paper Trading to Free when you have more than 3 strategies), your strategies will be preserved but you will not be able to create new ones until you are under the limit. You will need to archive strategies to free up slots.
  • Active deployments -- Any strategies deployed to broker accounts will be stopped when the downgrade takes effect. You will be notified before this happens.
  • Broker connections -- If the lower plan does not support broker connections, your connected accounts will be disconnected but not deleted. Your broker credentials are removed from Arconomy's systems for security.

If you have live strategies deployed when you downgrade from Live Trading, those strategies will be stopped and all open positions will be closed at market when the downgrade takes effect. Make sure to manually manage your positions before downgrading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my upgrade take effect immediately?

Yes. As soon as you confirm the upgrade and payment is processed, all features of your new plan are available. There is no waiting period.

Will I lose any data when upgrading?

No. All strategies, backtest results, and account settings are fully preserved during an upgrade. Upgrading only adds features -- it never removes or resets anything.

Can I skip Paper Trading and go straight to Live Trading?

Yes. You can upgrade directly from Free to Live Trading. However, we recommend spending some time paper trading your strategies first to validate their performance in real-time market conditions before committing real capital.

Can I upgrade multiple times in one billing cycle?

Yes. Each upgrade is pro-rated based on the remaining days in your billing cycle, so you will only pay for the time you actually use on each plan. There is no penalty for upgrading more than once.

What payment methods are accepted?

Arconomy accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). For details on payment methods and managing your billing information, see Billing & Invoices.
